Web Design Process

Step 1 - Planning

Once your initial deposit is received, I will send you the link to the design questionnaire so that you can tell me more about you, your business and how you want your design to look and feel. Being as specific as possible with a clear idea of how you want your site to look is critical. If you are able to help me understand your vision for the final design, it will go much faster and much more smoothly for both of us. I will also send you a Web Design Package via email. It contains the Web Design Process and Contract. The contract must be signed and returned (via email, fax, or snail mail) before the actual web design begins.

Step 2 - Your Logo Design
I will begin by designing your logo. This will be the base for your entire site design. You will receive three (3) proofs based on your design questionnaire. You are then allowed three (3) rounds of revisions for your chosen concept. We will then work together to come up with a design that you are completely satisfied with.

Step 3 - Your Web Design (If you are making 2 separate payments, this step will not occur until the initial 50% payment is made. The signed contract also needs to be returned to me by this time.)
I will work on a static proof of your site. At this time, you will tell me what you like or dislike about the design. It is very important that you give me your feedback at this stage. Making major changes once we have moved on to Installation can result in an additional fee. It is very important that you are available during this time for any questions that I may have and to give your feedback about the design proofs.

You are allowed two (2) major rounds of revisions to the proofs. Major revisions include a completely new layout, new graphics, new features or functionality. Minor revisions are accepted throughout the design process.

During this time, I will also ask for the information you would like on the pages provided. This may include the contact, about us and terms pages. Each site may differ but you will need to provide the information requested. If you would like the use of my copy service, please ask at this time. For a small fee, I will be happy to write/re-write the copy for your pages.

Step 4 - Installation (remaining balance will be due before installation begins)
At this time, I will set up your hosting account with Merchant Moms. If you have chosed to use another hosting service, you will need to set up your account at this time. I will then begin building your site. Installing the software, setting up the shopping cart, integrating your design and performing any custom coding you have requested is part of this step.

Once the site is installed, we will schedule a phone consultation to go over the basics of product entry and site management. This consultation will take approximately 1.5 hours because I go step by step to make sure you understand how your website works. I want you to feel confident in adding products and changing your pages.

Step 5 - Coming Soon Setup
Until you enter all of your information and products, a "Coming Soon" site will be set up for you. This will consist on your final design but will not actually be live (no links will be functional). A site messae will be added letting potetial customers know that you site is under construction. This will remain on the site until it is completely finished and ready to launch. If you have an existing site, a coming soon page may not be necessary.

Step 6 - Stocking Your Store
At this time, you will be required to add all of your products to your store. I will be available to answer any questions that you may have. You will want to make sure all of your items are entered before the launch of your site.

Once your products are entered, I will perform Beta testing on your site to ensure a smooth transaction for your customers. I will test the shopping cart and all of your pages and products.

Step 7 - Launch Your Site
Once your inventory has been entered and your shopping cart and features are tested for functionality, you will be ready to launch your site! Your "Coming Soon" page will be taken down at this time.

Please note that any claims for defects, corrections, or glitches must be made within 14 days of the project being completed.

I am available for additional phone consultations if need be. My normal hourly rate is $45.00, please email me if you would like more information.
